Choir Founder and Leader
Claire founded The Every Voice Choir in 2021. Classically trained and performing professionally since 17, Claire began her career after meeting with Sylvia Young aged 15. Claire is the featured voice of Karen Carpenter, touring the UK in The Carpenters Story, and is also in demand as a teacher and musical director. With 25 years’ experience teaching singing, violin and piano, and having served as Head/Director of Music and Drama in preparatory and secondary schools, Claire regularly leads singing workshops for theatre schools and local education authorities. She is much loved by The Every Voice Choir and her warmth and inclusive approach to singing means we truly are a choir for every voice.
Gaynor Sparrow
Treasurer and Choir Member
Gaynor became Treasurer of The Every Voice Choir in 2026. Originally from Wales, Gaynor now lives in Burnham-on Crouch. She is a talented artist and former teacher. Gaynor has sung with The Every Voice Choir for several years, and is active in a number of local groups, including crafting and quilting. Gaynor sings in our 'middles' section and is passionate about welcoming new members.
Niall Palmer
Secretary and Choir Member
Niall joined The Every Voice Choir in 2026. Originally from Wickford, Niall lived in London and South Woodham Ferrers before moving to Burnham-on Crouch. Niall plays Violin, which he learned with Choir Leader Claire Furley many moons ago. Niall has sung with several choirs, and is studying creative writing with the Open University. Niall sings in our 'bottom' section and says his favourite moments are when the choir is belting out Musical Theatre classics.
Jo Bastone
Membership Guru and Choir Member
Jo is a longstanding member of The Every Voice Choir. Jo lives in Althorne, and you'll meet Jo when you come along to rehearsals, both there and in Wickford. Not only does Jo make sure everyone feels welcome, she's also The Every Voice Choir's membership guru, making sure we can all keep in touch and know what's what! Most importantly, Jo is a member of the choir itself, singing her heart out at every rehearsal!
